Choosing the right photo gear is never easy — especially when travelling by motorcycle.
Here’s what I packed in my photo bag for this trip through Italy. Just enough to capture the beauty along the way.
A Fully Digital Photo & Video Kit
For this journey, I’ve chosen a 100% digital setup.
As much as I love film photography, this trip is about agility — sharing images quickly and easily. Digital wins, this time.
It also gives me a good reason to return one day, with nothing but film.
I’ll be filming quite a bit as well, so I brought a compact action cam, a pocket-sized gimbal camera, and a drone for aerial shots.
My main camera is an Olympus Micro Four Thirds.
Its compact size and lightweight lenses make it ideal for travel. I prefer fixed focal lengths to zooms — better image quality, better light.
Custom Gear, DIY Setup
The photo bag itself is a basic tactical backpack with MOLLE webbing. I made the compartments myself using high-density foam (cut from a Decathlon fitness mat) and a custom 3D-printed internal frame.
